Chairman
Dr. Birner joined TVM Capital in 2000, and is a General Partner for life sciences in the firm’s Munich office. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Argos Therapeutics Inc. (Durham, North Carolina) and is a member of the Board of Directors of Evotec AG (Hamburg, Germany), BioXell SA (Milan, Italy), Spepharm Holding BV (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Proteon Therapeutics, Inc (Kansas City, Missouri), Transmolecular Inc.(Boston, Massachusetts) and Nitec Pharma SA (Basel, Switzerland). Over many years, he was the Chairman/Vice Chairman of Direvo Biotech AG (Cologne, Germany) and Jerini AG (Berlin, Germany) which were acquired in 2008 by Bayer HealthCare AG and Shire Ltd. Dr. Birner also represents the interests of TVM Capital with Ardana Bioscience plc (Edinburgh, Scotland).

Jeffrey D. Abbey, M.B.A., J.D.
Director
Jeffrey Abbey joined Argos Therapeutics in 2002. Before joining
Argos, Mr. Abbey was Vice President of Business Development and Finance
for Internet Appliance Network (IAN), a venture-backed information technology
company based in New York City. Prior to joining IAN, he was a partner
in Eilenberg and Krause, a boutique corporate law firm, where he acted
as business counsel for a number of life sciences and other emerging technology
companies. Mr. Abbey has extensive experience in structuring and negotiating
licenses, joint ventures and other technology transfer agreements, as well
as mergers, acquisitions and financing transactions. He holds an A.B. in
Mathematical Economics from Brown University and received an M.B.A. and
J.D. from the University of Virginia.

B. Jefferson (Jeff) Clark, M.B.A.
Director
B. Jefferson (Jeff) Clark co-founded The Aurora Funds, Inc. (Aurora)
in 1994 and is currently Managing General Partner responsible for life
science investments in Aurora’s five existing funds, with $230
million of capital under management with investments in over 60 companies.
Prior to forming Aurora, Mr. Clark worked in development and external
affairs for Duke University, including Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center,
Duke Medical Center and the School of Engineering. Mr. Clark has extensive
strategic planning and operational experience and has overseen numerous
life science investments since 1995. He presently serves on the boards
of six of Aurora’s life science portfolio companies, including
Aldagen, Inc., Argos Therapeutics, Inc., Hyperbranch Medical Technology,
Metabolon, Regado Biosciences, and Xsira, assisting in the strategic
direction of each. He maintains strong ties to Duke University, serving
on the Board of Overseers of the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center. Mr.
Clark also supports the entrepreneurial efforts of greater RTP community
by having served as Chairman of the Board for North Carolina’s
Council for Entrepreneurial Development and by co-founding of the North
Carolina Initiative for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NCIIE). Mr.
Clark holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Duke University and
an M.B.A. from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University.

Michel Gréco,
M.B.A.
Director
Michel Gréco has vast experience in the healthcare field and immunotherapeutic
research, beginning his career with Theraplix, a pharmaceutical subsidiary
of the French Group Rhône Poulenc, in 1968. In 1975, he was appointed
Vice President for Commercial Operations, France and International. In
1982, Mr. Gréco moved to Rhône Poulenc’s Health Division
as Vice President of Strategy and was in charge of Corporate Marketing.
In 1987, he joined another Rhône Poulenc subsidiary, "Institut
Mérieux Human Health," a leading immunotherapy company based
in Lyon France. There, he was appointed Deputy General Manager in 1988.
Mr. Gréco has participated in the successive acquisitions of Pasteur
Vaccins (the Vaccine arm of Institut Pasteur) and Connaught Laboratories
(in the United States and Canada) and became Vice President Europe of
the new company (Pasteur Mérieux Connaught). Mr. Gréco
was deputy CEO and Member of the Board of Aventis Pasteur until January
2003. Since leaving Aventis, Mr. Gréco has been a board member
of Powderject (UK) and was instrumental in its acquisition by Chiron.
He is presently a board member of two public companies, one of which
is traded on the NASDAQ, a board member of four private companies and
three international institutions, and is an advisor to World Health Organization
(WHO) for vaccine research. Mr. Gréco holds a master’s degree
from Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, 1965, and an M.B.A. from
the University of Western Ontario, Richard IVEY Business School, Canada,
1968.

InÉs Holzbaur, Ph.D.
Director
Dr. Ines Holzbaur joined GeneChem Management, Inc. in 1999. She currently
holds the position of Vice President and has served on the board of directors
of several Canadian, American and European companies. Prior to 1999, she
worked as a consultant with Dr. Ashraf Ismail at McGill University, setting
up a spin-out company in bacterial diagnostics. Dr. Holzbaur obtained
her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Cambridge, UK, where she
studied erythromycin biosynthesis with Drs. James Staunton and Peter Leadlay.

Philip R. Tracy, J.D.
Director
Philip R. Tracy was formerly the President and Chief Executive Officer
of Burroughs Wellcome Co., a major research-based pharmaceutical company
with $1.2 billion in sales and 5,000 employees. Mr. Tracy has served on
the boards of directors of the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers
Association of America and the Nonprescription Drug Manufacturers Association.
Mr. Tracy is a venture partner with Intersouth Partners and currently serves
on the boards of directors of two Intersouth portfolio companies. He is
also Of Counsel with Smith, Anderson, Blount, Dorsett, Mitchell and Jernigan,
L.L.P. He received his B.A. from University of Nebraska and his J.D. from
George Washington University.

Brian J. Underdown, B.Sc., Ph.D.
Director
Brian Underdown joined Lumira Capital (formerly, MDS Capital Corp) in 1997. His focus has been on
new company formation in both Canada and the United States. Prior to joining
MDSCC, Dr. Underdown held a number of senior management positions in the
biopharmaceutical industry and in universities. Dr. Underdown obtained
his Ph.D. in immunology from McGill University and undertook post-doctoral
studies at Washington University School of Medicine. During his academic
career, he focused on immune-mediated diseases as well as vaccine development.
During his tenure at MDSCC, Dr. Underdown has focused on new investment
opportunities and building value as a board member in a number of companies
including, ID Biomedical, Trillium Therapeutics and Cytochroma Inc. He
has been actively involved in policy development and grant administration
with a number of government and non-governmental organizations that support
research, especially as it applies to commercial development.

Sander van Deventer,
M.D., Ph.D.
Director
Sander van Deventer is Professor of Experimental Medicine at the Academic
Medical Center in Amsterdam and general partner of Forbion Capital Partners
(formerly, ABN AMRO Capital). Dr. van Deventer has held numerous academic
appointments and has been the principle clinical investigator for several
clinical trials. He has served on a number of regulatory and pharmaceutical
industry scientific advisory boards and has been an advisor to the Food
and Drug Administration. Dr. van Deventer received his M.D. and Ph.D. from
the University of Amsterdam.
